What is the difference between counseling and coaching?

Because true wholeness looks different for everyone, we offer two distinct ways to walk under our canopy. Clinical Counseling focuses on healing the past: restoration, processing trauma, managing clinical challenges like anxiety and depression, in a licensed, confidential space. Transformation Coaching focuses on building the future: breaking through limiting mindsets, establishing boundaries, and mapping actionable goals aligned with Biblical truth. Counseling looks back to heal; coaching looks ahead to become. Counseling requires a provider licensed in your state; coaching has no geographic restrictions.

Do you take insurance?

Olive Tree Wellness Center operates as a private-pay practice and does not accept insurance directly. This allows us to prioritize your privacy and provide customized care without insurance restrictions. Many insurance plans provide out-of-network mental health benefits, and we are happy to provide a monthly statement (Superbill) that you can submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. We recommend calling the member services number on the back of your insurance card before your first session to ask: Does my plan provide out-of-network reimbursement benefits for outpatient mental health counseling? What is my out-of-network deductible, and has it been met yet? What percentage of the session fee does my plan reimburse once my deductible is met?

Can my counselor and coach be the same person?

The short answer is no, and it is designed that way entirely for your protection and peace of mind. In professional care, this is what we call a boundary against dual relationships. Because counseling and coaching serve completely different purposes, mixing them with the same provider can blur the lines of your care. Counseling digs deeply into clinical healing and processing past wounds, while coaching focuses strictly on future strategy and action-oriented goals. To keep your journey safe, clear, and legally sound, your provider can only step into one of those roles with you. But that is the true beauty of our canopy. You don't have to choose between healing your past or building your future—you just get to experience them with different hands in the season you need them most. Because Olive Tree is a deliberate collective, you can safely experience both under one roof. You can meet with one of our licensed therapists to restore your heart, and then partner with one of our experienced coaches when you are ready to transform your lifestyle. Our practitioners walk eye-level with one another, creating a seamless sanctuary where every part of your story is supported without you ever having to leave the safety of our canopy.

Yes—both counseling and coaching are available virtually for clients across our licensed regions, as well as in person by appointment.
